Whiting (calcium carbonate powder) is used to assist with the cement drying process.
This essential material draws the oil out of the cement to enable it to set. Without whiting the cement can take weeks to naturally harden. When using whiting the cement will only require an initial overnight setting period, however, it is best left flat for a minimum of a week to ensure the cement is fully set.
Cementing your leaded work is essential to prevent water ingress through a stained glass window but also to stop any rattling on a windy day.
